In daily life, amidst deadlines, responsibilities, and countless decisions, a phrase rang through my days like a joyous song: "Make good choices." At first, it seemed merely a quirky catchphrase that made you roll your eyes and chuckle inwardly. These words belonged to a vibrant young woman I worked with years ago, whose passion for helping at-risk youth radiated through everything she did.
She would repeat it with a smile, almost like a mantra meant to nudge us towards better decisions gently. Back then, I confess, I didn't fully grasp its depth. It was just another piece of well-meaning advice lost in the noise of everyday chatter. Yet, as time unfolded and life's lessons created me as a wiser soul, her words began to resonate in ways to my surprise.
I realized that the fabric of our lives is woven from the threads of our choices. No matter how small, each decision can shape our paths. It's easy to overlook the significance of these choices amidst the rush of the present moment. But when I look back now, I see the profound wisdom in her seemingly simple advice.
The quality of our lives hinges upon the choices we make. It's not just about the big, life-altering decisions, though they carry weight. It's also about the daily choices that shape our habits, influence our relationships, and define our character. Whether choosing kindness over indifference, perseverance over defeat, or growth over stagnation, each choice contributes to the tapestry of who we are becoming.
I've come to embrace the choices mantra—a reminder that our lives are dictated not by chance but by our conscious choices. It's a call to mindfulness, urging us to pause and consider the ripple effects of our decisions. What legacy do we wish to leave? How do we want to navigate the complexities of our journey?
Ultimately, the wisdom of "Make good choices" is its initial simplicity. It invites us to approach life with intention and masterfully steer with courage and wisdom. So, the next time you stand at a crossroads, remember this mantra: Embrace the power of your choices. We can't control the world, but mastering ourselves is one choice away.

I was recently asked why I do this and share my mistakes with people.
"A failure shared is a future success!"
If I can be brave and share my failures, it will give knowledge and power to others who attempt to navigate the same waters.
